My first Polar Plunge was awesome! I had been working at the Special Olympics of Virginia for one year when I participated in this event. It was wonderful to run into the icy waters with my close friend Elizabeth, and a thousand others; fundraising, cheering, and volunteering. We may not have won a contest, but we raised money to help others experience the joy and excitement of the Special Olympics Virginia. To answer your questions, Special Olympics of Virginia is a non-profit business that helps a lot of people to become more active and involved in sports events, and to promote people with intellectual disabilities. It's a wonderful experience to be apart of. Honestly this is the best job I've EVER had! I am starting this blog to help my team of co-workers, and I brainstorm more ways to share our joy with Special Olympics Virginia and the importance of our mission. For those who haven't heard of us, please read these entries and take heart in our cause to help others. In helping others we can grow and expand our services further. We are very proud of our achievements, but more proud of those lives we touch in the process. Journey with the me and the staff, so we can not only spread the champion in all of us, but most importantly in YOU!
